According to the Shanghai Daily, a 2026 Chinese animated film grossed only ¥7,169 ($1,063) in 9 days with just 236 viewers, setting the record for the lowest theatrical gross of the year. Some viewers complained that the quality was even worse than amateur AI-generated clips.
