OpenAI is set to ship a major performance upgrade next week for extremely long ChatGPT and Codex conversations. Internal tests on a massive 741-turn, 231 MB conversation show average load time dropping from 27.6s to 1.66s (94% faster) with 41% less overall memory growth. The new technology eliminates the need to load and render the entire history, loading only the necessary parts on demand, which will significantly improve opening speed, scrolling smoothness, and responsiveness for long-running chats and tool-heavy sessions.
