Nvidia reportedly cuts OpenAI data center guarantee from $250B to below $120B

The WSJ reports that Nvidia is reducing its proposed financial guarantee for OpenAI's data center from $250 billion to under $120 billion to mitigate balance sheet exposure. The revised backstop will cover only the first 5GW of the planned 10GW Ohio campus, effectively converting the commitment into a staged financing decision. This allows Nvidia to assess the initial phase's performance before funding the remainder. OpenAI is still negotiating a binding lease for the full 10GW, so the project's physical scope remains unchanged.
