Meta revealed it has removed access to over 750,000 Facebook and Instagram accounts in Australia identified as belonging to users under 16, complying with the country's new social media ban. The removal includes more than 450,000 Instagram accounts and 290,000 Facebook accounts. The company utilized AI-powered detection to analyze profiles for contextual clues and streamlined reporting processes for parents. However, reports suggest enforcement remains challenging, with over 80% of children aged 10–15 reportedly still using platforms nearly three months into the ban.
