Meta has filed a patent for AI smart glasses that use facial recognition to detect people in the frame, record video clips when they perform actions, and generate highlight reels. For example, the system could capture highlights from a dinner party and serve them to the user. The patent also mentions personalizing highlights using 'user relationship data.' Meta has not responded, but the move intensifies criticism over privacy issues with its AI glasses. Earlier, WIRED reported Meta silently added facial recognition code to millions of phones, which was later removed.
