Meta's Brain2Qwerty v2 achieves 61% average word accuracy in non-invasive brain-computer interface, up from 8% with earlier methods, with best participant at 78%. The study involved 9 volunteers, 22,000 typed sentences, using MEG recordings and end-to-end deep learning with a language model to reconstruct meaning. This could enable non-invasive communication for paralyzed patients, but not yet at bedside.
