Apple reportedly trained a China-specific LLM with assistance from Alibaba. This model is expected to coexist with Alibaba's Qwen and Baidu's technology within Apple Intelligence. Chinese regulators registered Apple Intelligence in July, removing a major barrier. If deployed, Apple would be the first foreign company approved to offer a proprietary AI model in China.
