Anthropic Targets $2T IPO in October, But Profitability Lags Behind Valuation

According to the Financial Times, Anthropic is expected to go public in October with a target valuation of $2 trillion or higher, potentially the largest IPO ever, surpassing SpaceX's $1.77 trillion record. The valuation more than doubles the $965 billion from its Series H round in May. Bloomberg also reports Anthropic is in talks to acquire AI startup Decart AI for $6 billion.
However, Anthropic has barely turned a profit. At Nasdaq 100 average multiples (34x trailing, 25x forward earnings), a $2T valuation would require annual profits of roughly $59B-$79B to justify.
