LG Electronics and Nvidia announced a joint development of a humanoid robot, planned for unveiling in Q1 2027. The tech stack is taking shape:
- Computing: Nvidia Jetson Thor
- Humanoid foundation models: Nvidia Isaac GR00T
- Safety system: Nvidia Halos for Robotics
- Actuator: LG Electronics
- Sensor: LG Innotek
- Battery: LG Energy Solution
LG also plans to deploy its wheeled humanoid robot CLOiD (launched at CES 2026) at its Tennessee washing machine factory in 2026, with plans to expand to other factories, commercial spaces, and eventually homes.
Commentary notes that Nvidia provides the standardized intelligence stack, while industrial giants like LG bring hardware, factories/commercial spaces, distribution channels, and a huge user base.
