Zhipu has released GLM-5.3, claiming the model outperformed leading US systems in cybersecurity tests, beating Anthropic's Mythos 5 and OpenAI's GPT-5.6 on CyberGym, as China seeks an edge in cyber defence.
A Jefferies research note on Friday said GLM-5.3's release, together with DeepSeek-V4, reinforced a growing emphasis on post-training, "as model intelligence is not determined solely by [the number of] parameters." The poster also flags concerns around open-weight models and pre-release testing.
