A tweet shares another reason to leave US academia, quoting @GTHaoKang noting that many important works are done by international interns, e.g., GEAR (KV compression, NeurIPS 2024) and TurboAttention (attention acceleration, MLSys 2025) used in Microsoft Research coding model service, ThunderAgent (ICML 2026) widely used in Together Compute and NVIDIA Dynamo. Most were done during CPT internships.
