AI Safety Researcher: Focus on Convincing Labs to Use Your Tech, Not Just Hype Risk
jam3scampbell · x · 2026-08-14
Safety researcher Viemccoy offered sharp criticism and advice for the current AI safety research community. She pointed out that many safety researchers spend too much effort on "awareness-of-risk" rather than socializing their research discoveries.
She emphasized that without actively trying to convince researchers at major AI labs to adopt these techniques, incredible research will remain unused. She urged practitioners to ask themselves: are you actually making a difference, or just shooting papers off into the dark hoping an agent will one day ingest them?
