Meta Superintelligence Lab Core Researcher Yujia Cui Leaves to Found Startup
智东西 · wechat · 2026-08-14
Yujia Cui, a core research scientist at Meta's Superintelligence Lab, announced he is leaving to start his own company. Joining Meta last year, Cui co-founded the TBD lab with Mark Zuckerberg and Alexandr Wang, leading the release of multimodal reasoning model MuseSpark, alongside MuseImage and MuseVideo.
Cui brings a heavy-hitting resume, having contributed to Google's PaLM-2 architecture and Gemini multimodal efforts, and participating in OpenAI's o3 and GPT-4.1 research. His departure comes right after Meta's密集 multimodal model releases. Along with recent exits of Ruoming Pang and Pengchuan Zhang to OpenAI, this highlights growing talent retention challenges for Zuckerberg's heavily-funded 'AI Dream Team'.
