UK Court Hears: Man Allegedly Used AI Chatbot to Contact ISIS in Somalia

According to the BBC, Winchester Crown Court in the UK is trying a case involving a 22-year-old man, Mohamed Mohamoud, accused of preparing acts of terrorism between October 2024 and March 2025.
The prosecution stated that Mohamoud was radicalized while living in the UK and traveled to Somalia in 2025 in an attempt to join ISIS. Struggling to find a contact, he allegedly used an AI chatbot to help establish communication with the terrorist group to fulfill his desire to become a martyr. The defendant denies the charges.
