Microsoft officially introduced the new remote MCP Server for Azure DevOps. Unlike the traditional local setup requiring Node.js, this hosted version allows AI assistants to connect directly via streamable HTTP.
- Remote Benefits: No installation required, minimal configuration, and uses Microsoft Entra ID (OAuth) for authentication.
- Local Use Cases: Clients like Claude Desktop and Cursor currently lack support for remote Entra ID authentication and must still rely on the local Node.js-based MCP Server.
