Optimizing Claude Code: Sonnet for Orchestration, Opus as Sub-Agents
dotey · x · 2026-08-14
Developer dotey shared a practical prompt configuration for /.claude/CLAUDE.md designed to optimize token usage and execution efficiency in Claude Code.
Core Workflow:
- Main Agent (Sonnet 3.5): Set to High thinking mode, it focuses strictly on requirement clarification, solution breakdown, task delegation, and result verification.
- Sub-Agents (Opus): Dispatched via the Agent tool to handle all specific implementation tasks, such as reading extensive code, writing code, running tests, and batch modifications.
Advantages: This setup avoids the massive token consumption and slow response times of using Opus as the primary controller, while still leveraging Opus for heavy-lifting implementation tasks.
