Spotify to Label AI-Generated Artists and Exclude Them from Algorithmic Recommendations
Kyrannio · x · 2026-08-14
To combat the rising tide of AI-generated music, Spotify announced it will start affixing an "AI Persona" label to AI-generated artist accounts starting in mid-September.
The badge will be visible on the artist's profile, search results, and playlists. Crucially, profiles with this label will be excluded from Spotify's prized algorithmic recommendations. The platform will allow artists to proactively disclose their AI nature; otherwise, human moderators using AI tools will review and label them.
