Microsoft Merges Consumer and Enterprise Copilot in Push for Super App
fortune · reddit · 2026-08-14
Microsoft has begun integrating its consumer-facing Copilot app with its enterprise counterpart, marking a crucial step in its plan to build an AI "super app." The planned super app is expected to integrate chat assistants, coding tools, and autonomous workflows.
The company is currently rolling out a unified experience to a small subset of users, introducing color-coded cues to distinguish between personal and enterprise logins. As a precursor to the merger, several consumer app features like Podcasts, Group Chat, and Deep Research will be retired soon. Additionally, the existing Microsoft 365 app will be officially renamed to "Microsoft Copilot." This move aims to better compete with rivals like OpenAI and further expand its enterprise Copilot business, which recently surpassed 30 million paid seats.
