Caltech professor Anima Anandkumar introduces her team's work published in Nature: the Neural Operator framework. It extends common architectures like CNNs, Transformers, and GNNs to neural operators, enabling AI to learn continuous functions and thus understand the physical world. She notes that most AI models lack physical understanding, and learning continuous functions is the best way to gain it.
