xAI has officially open-sourced the core recommendation algorithm powering the "For You" feed on X (formerly Twitter) on GitHub, quickly amassing over 27k stars. A developer fed the repository directly into the Grok model to analyze the code, revealing how posts are actually ranked.
The system combines in-network content from followed accounts with out-of-network content discovered via ML retrieval, featuring various filtering and scoring modules like SimClusters and candidate pipelines.
