Matic Robot Update: Adds On-Device Point-and-Speak Control in 75 Languages
testingcatalog · x · 2026-08-14
Matic has rolled out new voice and gesture controls for its camera-based cleaning robot. Users can simply point at a mess and say, "Hey Matic, clean this," directing the robot to the exact spot without opening the app. The feature supports 75 languages.
This capability relies on the robot's on-device perception stack. Powered by 5 RGB-IR cameras and an onboard NVIDIA computer, the system processes commands locally by detecting the user's arm in frame, projecting the aim, and matching it against the stored 3D model of the room. All raw footage is discarded in real time, ensuring data never leaves the device.
