DeepSeek Open-Sources Harness: A Fully Plugin-Based Agent Meta-Framework
智东西 · wechat · 2026-08-14
DeepSeek has open-sourced the developer preview (v0.1) of DeepSeekHarness, an underlying agent framework that quickly garnered over 10,000 GitHub stars. Instead of traditional agent architectures, it adopts a "everything is a plugin" design philosophy based on the Cordis plugin system from a joint paper by Peking University and DeepSeek.
The framework decouples all components—models, tools, sandboxes—into freely replaceable plugins and offers four modes: Standard, Minimalist, Creative, and PTC. A core highlight is the "Trajectory" feature, which uses an append-only log to record all context and tool calls, enabling task recovery, forking, and replay.
In hands-on testing, the framework demonstrated strong task decomposition and execution capabilities, taking 22 minutes to translate an 88-page paper and only 50 seconds to write a Snake game in minimalist mode. Overall, it is a highly modular, developer-focused "Lego-style" tool for building agents.
