niccarter recently refuted seven widespread misconceptions about AI data centers. He pointed out that data centers consume negligible amounts of water and are not responsible for the past decade's power price increases, which are actually driven by inflation and decarbonization policies.
On the contrary, data centers typically enrich local communities. Citing a struggling town in Washington state, the arrival of data centers led to the construction of new schools, hospitals, and libraries, while the local poverty rate plummeted from 29% to 6%.
