ChatGPT Desktop Autonomously Diagnoses, Patches, and Compiles PowerToys Bug Fix
sixothree · reddit · 2026-08-14
A developer struggling with constant disconnections in Microsoft's Mouse Without Borders tasked the ChatGPT desktop app with fixing the issue. By accessing Windows event logs, the AI identified Wi-Fi power-saving settings as a source of lag and adjusted them.
When problems persisted, ChatGPT read the PowerToys source code, traced a Windows input-injection design flaw that caused network drops, and wrote a recovery patch. Impressively, the agent autonomously compiled the patched app, ran tests, preserved existing settings, and installed the custom build, completely resolving the stability issue.
