Developer Cancels Cursor Over Pricing: $20 Legacy Plan Now Only Fits 5 Prompts
ThePeterMick · x · 2026-08-13
A developer announced canceling their Cursor subscription due to restrictive quota changes. The user holds a legacy plan with 500 requests per month but noted that using frontier models now requires enabling MAX mode, where a single simple prompt can consume around 100 requests.
This effectively means a $20 subscription only covers about 5 prompts. Additionally, the legacy plan is now restricted to the underwhelming Open 4.6 Thinking model, which falls short compared to Claude Opus, prompting the user to switch entirely to Claude.
