Niantic Launches Geometrically Accurate 3D Reconstruction Pipeline for Robotics

Niantic Spatial has introduced a new 3D reconstruction pipeline designed to build the infrastructure layer for Physical AI and robotics.
Key Technical Features:
- Beyond Photorealism: Unlike traditional Gaussian splats that focus on visual fidelity, this approach generates an aligned collision mesh alongside every 3D scene.
- Machine-Readable Twins: Ensures accurate geometry, depth, and collision awareness, solving the challenge of extracting true physical geometry from raw imagery.
- Ecosystem Integration: Built for Spatial AI and fully compatible with NVIDIA Isaac Sim for real-to-sim robotics training.
Applications: Infrastructure teams can use the models for remote asset inspection, while insurance and energy sectors can leverage them for site analysis. The technology is currently being tested in the City of Rancho Cordova.
