Generating High-Quality 3D Terrain Assets with AI, Soon Open-Sourced
jasonkneen · x · 2026-08-13
A developer shared their experience using Codex and Claude 3.7 Opus alongside Three.js to build procedural terrain meshes. The project can automatically generate Quixel Megascan-quality terrains, building components, and prefabs, and is planned to be open-sourced under the MIT license.
The author noted that while Codex occasionally struggles with z-fighting and math, iterative loops and cleanup by Opus enable the highly efficient production of usable 3D model components.
