Claude Agent Turns Napkin Sketch into CAD Model in 10 Minutes
floguo · x · 2026-08-13
A developer shared a hardcore experiment using a Claude agent for CAD modeling. Given a literal napkin sketch with instructions for dimensions and holes, Claude successfully deciphered the design intent and built the 3D part in under 10 minutes.
The experiment also tested a new topology naming layer. Managed via code-level agent oversight, this scheme covers common feature cases and falls back to parametrically derived coordinates for others, effectively solving traditional parametric positioning pains and significantly improving AI-assisted design reliability.
