Microsoft Launches Remote MCP Server for Azure DevOps to Streamline AI Integration

Microsoft officially announced the remote hosted MCP (Model Context Protocol) Server for Azure DevOps.

Compared to running a local server, the remote version requires no local installation of Node.js or managing local processes. It uses streamable HTTP transport and authenticates directly via Microsoft Entra ID (OAuth), allowing AI assistants to connect to Azure DevOps more lightweight.

Currently, clients that do not support remote OAuth authentication, such as Claude Desktop and Cursor, still need to use the local MCP Server.
