California Releases Updated Cybersecurity Strategy to Counter AI-Driven Threats

Governor Gavin Newsom announced the release of Cal-Secure 2.0, an updated statewide cybersecurity strategy designed to protect California from increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
Building on the 2021 plan, Cal-Secure 2.0 specifically addresses new risks driven by artificial intelligence. The roadmap provides state agencies with practical tools to strengthen critical systems—such as healthcare, transportation, and public safety—while prioritizing a stronger cybersecurity workforce and better inter-agency coordination.
