Pydantic Launches $20K Bounty to Hack Monty Sandbox for AI Code Execution
samuelcolvin · x · 2026-08-13
Pydantic has launched the 3rd and final round of its bounty program for Monty, a minimal Rust-based Python interpreter designed to safely run AI-generated code. The $20,000 prize is sponsored by Prefect and Hugging Face.
The Challenge: Monty is now running behind a production WebSocket service. Participants must attempt to escape the sandbox, cross the interpreter boundary, and read a secret file or environment variable on the host server. A mount escape demonstrating access to files outside a mounted directory is also eligible.
If no one can hack it, it will prove that Monty is highly secure and ready for V1 release as a robust tool for executing AI-generated code.
