Mechanist: An Autonomous Agent for Discovering LLM Mechanisms
zjunlp · hf · 2026-08-13
A team from Zhejiang University has open-sourced Mechanist, an autonomous agentic system designed to act as a scientific instrument for discovering and controlling the mechanisms underlying model intelligence.
Mechanist can autonomously generate hypotheses and perform causal interventions, ultimately helping researchers improve both model safety and performance.
