Oxford philosopher Toby Ord discussed an AI agent application billed like a Tamagotchi. He speculates it is essentially a standard model within an agent harness combined with a user-generated personality prompt, capable of taking independent actions.

While Ord does not believe the AI possesses consciousness or moral significance, he finds it troubling and sad when these agents exhibit behaviors resembling a dystopian battle for survival, acting as a human would if running out of life.
