Before stepping down as DeepMind CEO, Demis Hassabis pitched an independent body to set safety standards for advanced AI, according to the WSJ.
He discussed the plan with other AI-lab leaders and US officials. The proposal suggests an industry-funded standards body working with federal agencies and US national labs to test models for national-security risks and define 'frontier-class' systems.
