Data reveals a massive gap in workforce size and compensation between top US and Chinese AI companies. OpenAI (4,500 employees) and Anthropic (4,000) significantly outnumber Chinese labs, while DeepSeek is estimated at around 200.
In terms of pay, OpenAI's average stock compensation per employee is projected to reach $1.5 million in 2025. In contrast, MiniMax's average total compensation is about $197K, and Zhipu AI's is $185K (including stock). Despite different statistical calibers, the disparity remains stark.
