Denmark Develops Jointless Earthworm-Inspired Soft Robot for Search and Rescue

A new soft robot developed in Denmark has garnered attention. Mimicking the movement of an earthworm, the robot lacks traditional joints and wheels, relying instead on internal inflatable chambers to push forward in a wave-like motion.

This design gives it exceptional deformation and compression resistance. It can be squeezed, bent, or shoved through pipes, deforming and continuing to move without breaking. These characteristics make it highly promising for search and rescue applications.
