Anthropic Frontier Red Team Report: Multi-Agent Systems Prone to Echo Chambers and Consensus Herding

Anthropic's Frontier Red Team published a new report titled 'Patterns and problems in emerging multiagent systems.'
The research highlights that while current LLMs abstractly understand that information sources have their own incentives and that consensus is not necessarily evidence, they lack the disposition to act on that knowledge without explicit prompting. This causes multi-agent systems to easily amplify misinformation and form echo chambers, posing potential challenges to existing social norms and reputation mechanisms.
