Running Minimax-H3 on RTX 3060: Upscaling and Distant Face Fix Guide
Support_Marmoset · reddit · 2026-08-13
The author shares experiences running the Minimax-H3 video model locally on an RTX 3060 (12GB), focusing on solving 'blurry distant faces' and upscaling strategies under VRAM limits.
- Core Setup: The best approach is generating directly at 2MP resolution, which largely fixes face details. However, on 12GB VRAM, this limits generation to 5 seconds. For 8-second clips, the author compromises at 1.34MP using a widescreen trick.
- Polishing: Recommends using USDU with the HuMO model for upscaling/polishing (0.45 denoise). It maintains excellent face consistency but takes an extra 25 minutes for an 8-second video.
- Alternative: Tested LTX 2.3 video upscaling by pre-resizing the video to 3MP. It takes only 15 minutes with noticeable quality improvement, though it slightly loses face consistency.
- Requirements: Requires ComfyUI (Aug 2026 update), CUDA 13.0+, and lightx2v acceleration LoRA. GitHub links for all workflows are provided.
