An economist shared his experience of heavily utilizing AI for academic paper writing with co-authors. Their workflow includes using AI for editing, triple-checking mathematical proofs, and writing LaTeX figures.
He noted that AI detectors (like Pangram) might flag certain sentences—where editing led to unusual word choices—or appendices simplified by AI as "AI-generated." However, he emphasized that as long as the core ideas and main content are human-driven, there is no need to worry about normal AI-assisted editing being flagged.
