Eigen Labs Launches Yukon: Open Networks Surpassing AI Research Bottlenecks

gajesh · x · 2026-08-13

Sreeram Kannan, founder of Eigen Labs, announced Yukon, a project aimed at advancing frontier research through an open innovation network. The post notes that while today's long-horizon AI agents are highly capable, they are brittle in persistent research—often getting stuck in bad ideas or giving up too easily.

Yukon demonstrates the superiority of open networks in solving complex problems. For instance, a global open network surpassed Google Quantum AI's withheld quantum circuit and made it 2x faster. Poolside's open-source model runs at 2.6x the original speed, and Lighter's ZK prover runs 9.6x faster. This proves that decentralized collaborative networks can achieve breakthroughs unattainable by single-agent systems.
