Bhaduri lab at UCLA published a paper in Cell creating the first metabolic atlas of the early human cortex, revealing that glucose metabolism directly determines which cell types the brain produces. The pentose phosphate pathway, known from cancer biology, is shown to be a key regulator of radial glia fate during cortical development.
