The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is planning to modernize its National Vulnerability Database (NVD) to address an evolving cybersecurity landscape increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence.

Set to publish a Request for Information (RFI) in the Federal Register, NIST is seeking stakeholder input to improve the NVD’s scalability, automation, interoperability, and transparency. The feedback will cover seven areas, with a strong focus on leveraging AI to transform the vulnerability management ecosystem, thereby enhancing software security and compliance automation across public and private sectors.
