Anthropic to Watermark Claude-Generated Text to Comply with EU AI Act

To comply with the EU AI Act's transparency requirements that took effect on August 2, Anthropic announced it will watermark text and files generated by its models, including Claude.
- Scope: Models released after August 2 will automatically feature watermarking, with support for older models coming later.
- Implementation: Text watermarks will be embedded in the text itself, persisting through copy-pasting and some editing. Files will use the C2PA open standard.
- Application Level: Watermarking is applied at the model level, meaning it will be present regardless of the Claude product or surface used.
