Schmidhuber Claims Hinton's Nobel-Winning Algorithms Were Plagiarized

AI pioneer Jürgen Schmidhuber has once again launched a sharp critique against Geoffrey Hinton's Nobel Prize in Physics. In a newly released technical report, he claims that the methodologies awarded to Hinton and Hopfield were actually republished techniques developed by Ukrainian and Japanese researchers (Ivakhnenko and Amari) in the 1960s and 1970s without proper citation.

Schmidhuber asserts that none of the important algorithms for modern AI were created by the Nobel laureates. He sarcastically questioned whether encouraging Ph.D. students to rewrite old papers and submit them as original work is now an acceptable practice.
