WeChat Officially Announces WeLM, Powering Native AI Assistant and Mini-Programs

WeChat has officially announced its proprietary AI model, WeLM, which is already deployed in WeChat's native AI assistant, "Xiao Wei."
The model series includes two versions:
- WeLM-80B: 80 billion total parameters with 3 billion activated per inference. It can understand user voice commands and invoke native WeChat features or mini-programs to execute tasks.
- WeLM-617B: 617 billion total parameters with 23 billion activated per inference.
This marks WeChat's official step in integrating its proprietary large model into its massive super-app ecosystem.
