An OpenAI visiting economics researcher released a new working paper analyzing over 17 million messages from workers across 1,500+ organizations to document how enterprises actually use generative AI.
The study links several data types: organizational adoption and usage, employee job titles, message-level task classifications, and financial data for U.S. public companies. This allows for a deep dive into AI penetration across firms, workers, and specific tasks, rather than just tracking access.
