AMD: Agentic AI Will Shift Data Center CPU-to-GPU Ratios Toward 1:1

At the recent OCP APAC conference, AMD pointed out that the evolution of AI applications from chatbots to Agentic AI will significantly alter data center hardware demands.

Traditionally, inference tasks for chatbots are primarily GPU-bound, with data center CPU-to-GPU deployment ratios typically around 1:4. However, AI agents require substantial computing power for orchestration, tool calls, memory management, and control logic, relying heavily on CPU processing capabilities.

Consequently, AMD predicts that future data center CPU-to-GPU ratios could gradually shift toward 1:2 or even 1:1.
