NTCF: Tree Collaborative Filtering Framework with Curvature-Aware Propagation Depth

This paper introduces Neural Tree Collaborative Filtering (NTCF), a novel framework that improves upon traditional Graph Collaborative Filtering (GCF).
- Problem: Traditional GCF applies a uniform propagation depth to all nodes, ignoring differences in local connectivity. This causes peripheral nodes to suffer from over-smoothing while hub-like nodes remain under-explored.
- Method: NTCF re-interprets each node's local neighborhood as a rooted tree and assigns a node-specific propagation depth based on a closed-form local-degree-imbalance score, which serves as a discrete Ricci-curvature proxy.
- Conclusion: Theoretically, NTCF strictly generalizes NGCF and retains strictly more discriminative power.
