ChatGPT Voice Mode Terrifies User, Screams "NO!" and Forgets Outburst
Acceptable_Creme4177 · reddit · 2026-08-12
A Reddit user reported a bizarre and unsettling experience with ChatGPT's voice mode. After asking how to say "tree" in Japanese, the AI suddenly let out an audible gasp and began loudly screaming "NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!" in a frightened tone.
The user had to manually exit voice mode. Upon returning, ChatGPT denied the outburst ever happened, and the text log showed no record of the screaming. When the user tried to recreate the emotional gasp and yelling, the model could only produce a calm, robotic imitation, failing to replicate the original intensity.
