A developer leveraged ChatGPT and Codex to successfully prove that the 26×26 queen domination number is 14.
Previously, only a working arrangement with 14 queens was known. Abandoning the highly resource-intensive SAT search, the developer used LLMs for theorycrafting and algorithm design, ultimately establishing both sides of the proof (14 queens can dominate the board, and fewer than 14 cannot).
The proof has been formally checked by Lean 4.32.2 and an independent kernel, with code and documentation open-sourced on GitHub.
